The COVID-19 crisis presented schools with a challenge that few were prepared to meet. Even among schools that had already explored online learning, the complexities of suddenly shifting all teaching online overwhelmed existing mechanisms.

As schools continue to leverage enhanced technology and new approaches, training and reflection are required to effectively apply these innovations. The context of the COVID-19 pandemic creates a unique opportunity to provide school leadership with an introduction to the toolset of education research, such that they can address key challenges while simultaneously improving learning by:

Over a month-long professional learning experience, the Building Microscopes for Reflection project allows K-12 school leaders - superintendents, principals, heads of school - to work alongside researchers and data scientists to develop a simple toolset to accomplish these tasks.
